Ministry for Earth (formerly known as Green Sanctuary)The mission of the Social Justice Care for the Environment Group is to emulate the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth model through action and education.  This committee’s goals are closely aligned with materials provided by the Seventh Principle Project of the Unitarian Universalist Association. The goals involve saving natural resources, saving church expenses, promoting sustainable living, worship service and Religion Education programs, and promoting economic and environmental justice. The committee is the contact point with the national Green Sanctuary Program. The Green Sanctuary committee is an umbrella committee who membership consists of liaisons to other existing committees whose activities fulfill requirements for achieving recognition as a Green Sanctuary church. Specific duties include:

a. Coordinate activities related to national Green Sanctuary Program.

b. Facilitate planning and record keeping/documentation of activities that lead to achievement and retention of Green Sanctuary church status.

c. Promote “green” dialogue with existing committees, individual members, and friends.

d. Assimilate “green” philosophy into existing activities of already-established committees.
